In New Kid by Jerry Craft, Jordan Banks loves drawing cartoons and wants nothing more than to attend art school. Instead, Jordan’s parents decided to send him to a prestigious private school with a well-regarded academic program. As one of the few students of color in his grade, Jordan struggles to find his place, and ends up straddling two very different worlds—his neighborhood and his school. Despite the misconceptions and stereotypes held by his peers and teachers, Jordan finds a space for himself and his passion at his new school.
