As a young man, Author M.T. Anderson wrote classical music reviews, mostly celebrating the good performances he heard. Since then, he has found himself trying to bring the emotional and visceral non-language of music into the way he writes. Using word play based on techniques from classical music has enriched many of his books including some specific scenes in his book Feed.
