Author R.L. Stine on Being a Fearful Child Himself

A shy kid, Author R.L. Stine was also scared of a lot of things like the dark, going into the basement, and parking his bike in a dark garage. In fact, he was so afraid of that dark garage that he would throw his bike inside and run into the house. He says it was a painful way to go through childhood, but as a thriller writer of books like Goosebumps, he can easily remember back to how he felt as a child and apply those experiences to his characters.
