Author Christopher Paul Curtis has four rules for aspiring young writers: 1. write everyday; 2. have fun with your writing (most important rule!); 3. be patient with yourself; and 4. ignore all the rules. As writers write and practice, they can take risks and develop their own styles. That is when they find their voices and their stories start to sing.
