Author Christopher Paul Curtis on Why "The Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963" Is His Favorite of His Books

When Author Christopher Paul Curtis published his first book, The Watsons Go to Burmingham - 1963, it changed his life. The book was hugely successful and it— and his other books—ultimately gave him financial freedom to leave his day job working in a warehouse. Because of that freedom, the book remains his favorite of all of the books he has written. The Watsons Go to Burmingham - 1963 went on to win a Newbery Medal and a Coretta Scott King Honor.
