WETA's ongoing commitment to education is realized through national education services that focus on making learning available to all. Through local and national television programs and web sites, WETA uses the power of media to educate, entertain, inspire, and delight. In particular, WETA's Learning Media department offers the following national web services: Reading Rockets, a national multimedia project that offers research-based and best-practice information on teaching kids to read and helping those who struggle; LD OnLine, the leading web site on learning disabilities for parents, teachers, and other professionals; and Colorín Colorado, a web service that offers information, activities, and advice for Spanish-speaking parents and educators of English language learners.

Our sites are experiencing phenomenal growth in audience and content, including podcasts, webcasts, blogs, and extensive video streaming featuring prominent children's book authors and celebrities such as Morgan Freeman and Annette Bening (who have narrated PBS television programs for Reading Rockets). The Technical Web Manager oversees the infrastructure of the sites, implements new features, and serves as the tech "guru" for the rest of the Web team. We're looking for someone who can thrive in an entrepreneurial, energetic culture.

Intern, AdLit.org

AdLit.org offers LD OnLine is the leading web site on learning disabilities for parents, teachers, and other professionals. We seek an intern to provide editorial and technical assistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with HTML coding and web production.
  • Copyedit article summaries, blog entries, interview transcripts.
  • Assist with electronic newsletter production.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • One year of college.
  • Experience coding using strict XHTML standards.
  • Proficiency with Photoshop, MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
